Apply for the WWF Russell E. Train Fellowships | Funding is available

The Russell E. Train Fellowships offer financial assistance to individuals pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in conservation and related fields. Each year, WWF provides support to dedicated conservation leaders and scientists from select countries to help them advance their education and research efforts.

WWF Food Systems FellowshipFood is Local: Exploring the social, cultural, economic, and environmental aspects of food systems at the national level.*

WWF's Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program (EFN) invites applications from emerging and experienced researchers, practitioners, and leaders who wish to pursue graduate studies (master’s or PhD) focused on research that deepens the understanding of place-based food systems and their transformation. While global attention is growing around the need for food system reform, less focus has been given to how these transformations can take shape on a national scale.

The goal of the Food Systems Fellowship is to support exceptional master's or doctoral students in conducting evidence-based, innovative, and interdisciplinary research on food systems at the national level. This research aims to enhance understanding of the country-specific aspects of food systems and their transformation. Fellows will also gain access to a global network of EFN alumni, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The application deadline is December 18, 2024, at 11:59 PM US Eastern Time. Applicants can apply for up to two years of funding, with a maximum request of $30,000 per year. Funding amounts will vary. Successful applicants will be notified by June 2025. For questions regarding the application process or the program, contact efn@wwfus.org.
