Apply for the Young Leaders Fellowship 2026 for Global South Changemakers

Applications are open for the Young Leaders Fellowship 2026, a one-year leadership development programme designed to empower emerging leaders from the Global South who are working to prevent violence against children in and through schools.

The fellowship supports passionate changemakers by strengthening their leadership skills, expanding their professional networks, and creating opportunities to contribute to global conversations on child protection and safe learning environments.

About the Fellowship

The programme brings together a cohort of 8–10 young leaders from across the Global South who are leading or actively contributing to initiatives that promote safer schools and protect children from violence.

Over the course of one year, fellows will participate in leadership development activities, collaborative learning, mentorship, and peer exchange while strengthening the impact of their own initiatives.

The fellowship is delivered primarily online and includes one in-person gathering during the programme.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Demonstrated commitment to preventing violence against children in educational settings
  • Leadership potential and dedication to creating positive change
  • Experience leading or contributing to relevant initiatives
  • Willingness to engage in collaborative learning and peer exchange
  • Potential to contribute to global discussions on child protection and safe education

The selection process also aims to ensure diversity in terms of geography and gender representation.

Successful applicants are expected to be announced in mid-July 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
- Be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application

- Be based in and actively working in a Global South country

- Be leading or making significant contributions to an initiative focused on preventing violence against children in and through schools

- Be able to participate in programme activities conducted in English

- Commit to virtual sessions throughout the fellowship and attend the in-person meeting during the programme

- The fellowship welcomes applicants from a variety of sectors, including civil society organizations, community-based initiatives, schools, social enterprises, and government-related programmes.
