Apply for this Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva – Human Rights Section

As a recent graduate, are you considering a career in international relations? Are you interested in finding out more about what goes into running a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation in Geneva reflects the interests and values of the EU in a multilateral setting?

They provide:
a six-month apprenticeship beginning in September 2024 with the EU Delegation to the UN's Human Rights Section in Geneva.

At the EU Delegation, the Human Rights division oversees both horizontal and thematic problems, primarily those pertaining to human rights. In the department where they are interning, each trainee will have a supervisor assigned to them. As interns are completely incorporated into the section's daily operations, they have the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the Delegation's diplomatic efforts, particularly in the area of policy that the section covers.

Principal duties:

Participation in the Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Review meetings, as well as various working groups; drafting briefings; preparing draft reports on EU/OHCHR/Human Rights-related meetings, conferences, and events; general analysis of Human Rights policies in various countries; and so on.

Applications from individuals who are ineligible will not be taken into account. Following the review of all applications, those who made the short list will be contacted and extended an invitation to interview. Those who are not selected will receive an email notification. Should the chosen applicants be unable to provide the necessary paperwork, their application will be returned unopened.

Only in conformity with both the local and the national laws of the place of origin may the traineeships be offered.

Individuals from states that are members of the EU:

must show proof that they will be insured against the possibility of a pandemic and the expense of returning home; must, where appropriate, possess a valid entry visa or temporary residence permit; and finally, must adhere to local laws and the terms of the traineeship agreement.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 02/06/2024.
