Apply to join the Global Fund Youth Council
Do you have a strong belief in the importance of youth in the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria? To spearhead its work over the next two years, the Global Fund Youth Council is seeking a diverse group of passionate young leaders.
This is your chance to assist the Global Fund in learning about the real and evolving needs and priorities of young people worldwide if you're between the ages of 18 and 25 and have a personal or professional connection to these health issues.
The Global Fund Youth Council advises the Global Fund Secretariat and the Executive Director on issues relevant to youth afflicted by the three illnesses.
The council, which consists of 12 members, offers comprehension and communicates important matters and subtle contextual details from all nations that are qualified to obtain Global Fund allocations. With the goal of maximising the effect of Global Fund investments in the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria, it seeks to guarantee that the Global Fund is guided by the distinct needs and views of young people.
top priorities
The current Youth Council members came to a consensus on the following priorities.
Priorities for current technical work:
Separated information: Make sure that in order to inform adolescent and young programmes, the Global Fund partnership continuously champions and gathers disaggregated data, including by age, sex, and gender.
Make sure that there are safe spaces for young engagement at the national level in Global Fund processes: Young people from important populations are included in this since they might have similar vulnerabilities and identities. Peer-to-peer learning, mentorship, and technological support can all help young people get involved and develop the skill sets they need to effectively advocate for youth priorities in places where decisions are made.
Psychological support: To the degree feasible, provide assistance to youth in nations where safety and security concerns persist, with a focus on youth leaders.
Women and girls: Persist in advocating for gender equality and other important collaborations, and provide avenues for young women and girls to convene, settle on priorities, and take a more active role in decision-making environments.
Promote ensuring that services are accessible: Utilise the distinct and comparative advantage of youth-led networks and organisations at the national level to provide services through strategic initiatives and grants from the Global Fund. Whenever appropriate, make investments in youth-led organisations' and networks' capacity building to increase their reach, particularly among young, vulnerable, and important groups.
Priorities for Advocacy: Important youth involvement with the Executive Director and at the national level.
To guarantee that young people are involved in meaningful and morally-responsible ways in country-level governance processes, formalise their engagement. This includes pushing for the representation of critical populations, as well as adolescent girls and young women, in Country Coordination Mechanisms.
meaningful youth participation in the Eighth Replenishment of the Global Fund, with an emphasis on youth-led funding, through involvement in the Advocacy Roadmap's implementation, advocacy to counter the attacks on human rights, build a more positive narrative, and raise funds for communities and civil society. In grant agreements with nations that violate human rights, push for more accountability and respect to the minimal requirements for human rights.
