Apply to join the Resilience in Focus Photo Story Contest ( Award –  $1000 USD )

Climate change is one of the most pressing global issues, with significant impacts on the environment, economy, and society. As its effects grow more severe, it is crucial for institutions, governments, and communities to adopt comprehensive strategies to build resilience and manage associated risks.

Art plays a vital role in promoting sustainability and raising awareness about climate resilience. Through creative expression, we can inspire, educate, and bring people together to create a unified vision for tackling climate change. In partnership with the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) is launching the Resilience in Focus Photo Story Contest to amplify the voices of African youth. This contest will use photography to creatively showcase both the challenges and solutions related to climate resilience.

The contest will focus on five key climate resilience challenges, aligned with COP29 priorities:

- Food and Water Security: Addressing food and water insecurity.
- Biodiversity and Environmental Protection: Efforts to restore and prevent further loss of biodiversity and environmental damage.
- Urban Resilience: Strengthening urban communities to ensure they are safer and more sustainable for everyone.
- Disaster Preparedness: Enhancing preparedness for extreme events and improving disaster recovery strategies.
- Cultural Inclusion: Ensuring that indigenous and local knowledge is integrated into decision-making processes.

Important Information:
- The contest is open to all African youth aged 35 and under, with a special encouragement for female applicants.

- Note: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is November 30, 2024, 23:59 GMT.
