ATHENA Network is looking for Program Manager | JOB OPPORTUNITY
ATHENA Network was established to advance gender equality and human rights, focusing on the intersection of HIV, women’s rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and gender-based violence (GBV). Since its official launch in 2005, ATHENA has been instrumental in policy advocacy, capacity building, and network collaboration with national and regional partners.
ATHENA's mission is rooted in the belief that achieving SRHR, reducing HIV transmission, eliminating GBV, and improving global health are possible only when women and girls, in all their diversity, are empowered to know, claim, and exercise their rights. The network champions inclusive leadership by women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, especially those most impacted by these issues.
ATHENA creates platforms for women and diverse girls to participate in shaping and implementing policies, programs, advocacy, and research that affect their lives. The organization connects grassroots and global efforts, addressing key issues around gender, human rights, SRHR, GBV, and HIV. It is committed to cultivating future feminist leaders and strengthening movements.
The core team is primarily based across East, West, and Southern Africa, with members located in Kenya, the Netherlands, South Africa, and the United States. Many team members are young African feminists who have firsthand experience with the impacts of HIV in their communities and families.
ATHENA's expertise includes policy development, participatory research, advocacy, youth engagement, leadership training, and ensuring accountability at the local level.
