Applications are open for the Solar Enterprise & Skills Program (SESP) 2026, a youth-centered initiative aimed at preparing young people for opportunities within the renewable energy sector. The programme focuses on providing practical solar energy skills while also supporting participants in developing entrepreneurial abilities that can lead to sustainable employment and business creation.

SESP is designed to help build a new generation of solar technicians and clean energy entrepreneurs who can contribute to expanding access to renewable power while strengthening local economies. By combining technical training with enterprise development, the programme encourages young innovators to explore practical solutions that support the growth of Africa’s clean energy industry.

During the three-week intensive training, selected participants will gain hands-on experience in the installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems. The training also covers troubleshooting techniques and safety practices essential for working with solar energy systems in real-world environments.

Alongside the technical sessions, participants will take part in entrepreneurship-focused workshops that introduce essential skills such as financial literacy, leadership, and customer engagement. These sessions are designed to help participants understand how to establish or expand solar-related businesses.

The programme also provides mentorship opportunities, allowing participants to interact with professionals working in the renewable energy industry. In some cases, participants may also be connected to internship opportunities with solar companies and organizations operating in the clean energy sector.

A total of 25 young participants will be selected for the 2026 cohort. The programme is particularly suited for individuals who are passionate about renewable energy, interested in entrepreneurship, and motivated to contribute to expanding clean energy access within their communities.
