Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2027/2028 – Fully Funded Master’s Study in the UK

Applications are now open for the 2027/2028 Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, offering talented students from eligible low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries the opportunity to pursue a full-time taught Master’s degree at a university in the United Kingdom.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), the programme supports talented individuals who have the potential to contribute to sustainable development in their home countries but would otherwise be unable to afford postgraduate study in the UK. The scholarship is designed to equip successful candidates with advanced knowledge, skills and professional networks that they can use after returning home.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person. They must normally be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country and must be available to begin their studies in the UK at the start of the 2027/2028 academic year. Applicants must also hold, by September 2027, at least an upper second-class (2:1) undergraduate degree or a lower second-class degree together with a relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a Master’s degree. Candidates must demonstrate that they would not be able to afford to study in the UK without the scholarship and must submit all required supporting documents in the specified format.

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for the duration of the award. Successful scholars receive approved return airfare between their home country and the UK, with the cost of tuition fees fully covered through an agreement between the CSC and the host university. They also receive a monthly living allowance of £1,712, increasing to £2,000 per month for scholars studying at universities within the London metropolitan area. A study travel grant is also available to contribute towards approved study-related travel within the UK or overseas. Eligible single parents, widowed or divorced scholars may additionally receive a child allowance of £622 per month for the first child and £154 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, provided the children live with them at the same UK address.

The scholarships are intended for full-time Master’s programmes beginning in September/October 2027. Applications must be submitted through the official CSC Central application system, as the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission does not accept applications or supporting documents submitted through other channels.
