Applications are open for the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme, an incredible opportunity designed to support talented graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa who are passionate about advancing sustainable development on the continent. This program specifically targets individuals interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in fields aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping to build a strong network of highly qualified professionals dedicated to solving Africa’s most pressing challenges.

The scholarships are available for selected Master’s programmes at partner institutions in Nigeria and South Africa. Fields of study include Physics, Mathematics, and Philosophy in Urban Studies with a focus on Southern Urbanism. Through this initiative, scholars gain access to high-quality education within the region while contributing to knowledge development that directly impacts local communities and economies.

The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship is fully funded and provides comprehensive financial support to ensure that scholars can focus entirely on their studies. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be graduates from Sub-Saharan African countries who meet the academic and admission requirements of the selected universities in Nigeria or South Africa. Candidates should demonstrate strong academic performance and a clear commitment to contributing to sustainable development within their home countries or the region. The programme is particularly aimed at individuals who intend to pursue careers in academia, research, or sectors that support sustainable growth and development.

In addition, applicants are expected to show motivation for development-related work and a willingness to actively participate in regional knowledge exchange. Female candidates and individuals from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply, as the programme seeks to promote inclusivity and equal access to higher education opportunities.
