Program Benefits
The Hyundai Motor Group Scholarship is fully funded. For Master’s students, the award covers full tuition fees and provides a total funding package of £27,730, with the remaining balance offered as a living stipend. For PhD students, the scholarship covers full tuition fees for up to four years of full-time study and provides an annual stipend of £22,780 to support living costs.

In addition to financial support, scholars benefit from exclusive networking events, seminars, and engagement activities organised by Hyundai Motor Group. Selected Master’s students may also have the opportunity to participate in a Junior Internship Programme, offering valuable professional exposure and experience.
Eligibility Criteria
This scholarship is open to African nationals who are ordinarily resident in Africa at the time of application. Applicants must be classified as international fee-paying students and must apply for a full-time Master’s degree (one year) or a full-time MPhil/PhD programme at SOAS for the 2026/27 academic year. Part-time programmes and two-year Master’s programmes are not eligible under this scheme.

For Master’s applicants, candidates should hold or expect to obtain the equivalent of a first-class honours degree. Applicants with a strong upper second-class degree (2:1) may still be considered, although preference is given to those with the highest academic achievement. For PhD applicants, candidates should hold or expect to receive a Master’s degree with distinction. Those with a merit may apply but will not be prioritised. All applicants must meet the English language requirements set by SOAS and must secure an offer of admission to their chosen programme.

This scholarship is open to applicants from all African countries. To qualify, candidates must be nationals of an African country and ordinarily resident in Africa at the time of application.
