Fellows will receive a paid, full-time position for one year within The New York Times newsroom, gaining exposure to high-level journalism, mentorship from experienced editors and reporters, and access to world-class resources.  They will have the opportunity to work across departments including reporting, editing, visual journalism, audio/video and audience work.  The fellowship serves as both a professional development track and potential stepping stone into a permanent newsroom role (though hiring is competitive).

This fellowship is designed for journalists early in their careers, including recent college graduates and those with a few years of professional experience in journalism or equivalent storytelling work.  Applicants must have no more than five years of paid professional journalism experience beyond internships or early freelance work.  Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States (or hold a valid visa/permit for certain locations).  Strong storytelling skills, portfolio of journalism clips, and interest in newsroom work at a major media institution are required.
