FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Presidential Precinct Judicial Fellowship Program 2026 in the USA

Applications are open for the 2026 Judicial Fellowship Program organized by the  Presidential Precinct in partnership with the  U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. This prestigious international fellowship is designed for early- and mid-career judges and magistrates who are committed to strengthening legal systems and promoting the rule of law in their countries. The fellowship is a fully funded professional exchange and residential learning experience that will take place in Washington, D.C., and Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, from September 26 to October 10, 2026.  

The program combines theoretical learning with practical judicial training through workshops, simulations, case studies, experiential learning, and networking sessions. Participants will engage with legal experts, judicial leaders, and academic institutions including the University of Virginia and the National Center for State Courts. Fellows will explore topics such as judicial independence, constitutionalism, human rights law, anti-corruption strategies, ethical decision-making, mediation, opinion writing, and judicial reforms. Site visits include important institutions such as the U.S. Supreme Court and the National Archives.  

Eligible applicants must be early- or mid-career judges or magistrates from countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Applicants are expected to have between five and seven years of experience presiding over civil or criminal cases and should demonstrate a strong commitment to integrity, ethical leadership, and the rule of law. Candidates should also possess strong communication and collaboration skills, proficiency in English, and the willingness to apply the knowledge gained from the fellowship to strengthen judicial systems in their home countries. Applicants must also be eligible for a U.S. visa.

Program Benefits
The Judicial Fellowship Program is fully funded. Selected fellows will receive coverage for international travel, accommodation, group meals, and group admissions throughout the fellowship period. Participants will also benefit from intensive professional development opportunities, networking with international judicial leaders, and exposure to the U.S. legal and judicial system. Fellows will strengthen their skills in mediation, judicial writing, collaboration, ethical leadership, and thought leadership while gaining practical tools for improving judicial professionalism and advocating for reforms within their own judicial systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must currently serve as judges or magistrates and should be in the early or middle stages of their judicial careers. The fellowship seeks individuals who have demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, leadership potential, and a clear commitment to strengthening justice systems in their jurisdictions. Candidates should have substantial experience handling civil or criminal matters and must be passionate about judicial integrity, accountability, and institutional reform. Strong English language skills are essential because the entire fellowship is conducted in English. Additionally, applicants must qualify for a United States visa and be willing to actively participate in all fellowship activities and collaborative learning experiences.
