In 2024, democracy takes center stage as approximately 60 nations gear up for elections, involving nearly half of the global population, marking an unprecedented milestone in history. This year holds significance as individuals worldwide exercise their voting rights to shape their desired futures, a phenomenon not to be witnessed again until 2048.
Simultaneously, the world stands at a crucial juncture in its journey towards achieving net zero emissions. To ensure a sustainable path forward, urgent and comprehensive decarbonization across all sectors of the economy is imperative. Although numerous countries have bolstered their climate policies, the emergence of a 'green backlash' threatens to impede progress. The outcome of this unprecedented election year will significantly influence the trajectory of the green and equitable transition, highlighting the critical role of voters in driving environmental action.
Given the significance of this year, BMW Group aims to connect and engage the next generation of leaders who are supporting accelerated climate policies with broad democratic support. Young policy experts from all around the world will be able to attend the One Young World Summit in Montréal in 2024 as a member of the global delegation from the BMW Group thanks to the Engage Billions Scholarship.Furthermore, researchers will get access to a special "Welcome! New Parliament" that brings together leaders from NGO's, young business, and policymaking in Brussels, the European centre of policymaking.

1. Attending the Summit in the capacity of a BMW Group delegate.
2. Hotel accommodations for September 17–21, 2024, in Montreal.
3. Airline tickets in economy to and from Montreal.
4. Throughout the Summit, there will be breakfast, lunch, and dinner catered.
5. Transportation from the lodging to the Summit location.
6. Travel costs for the Welcome! New Parliament Youth Summit to and from Brussels.
7. Hotel accommodations for the New Parliament Youth Summit in Brussels.
8. Lifelong enrollment in the One Young World Ambassador Programme.
9. Availability of BMW experts for advice and assistance according to specific requirements.
1. Serving in a climate policy-making or advisory role within a national or supra-national government or civil service.
2. Engaged in policy and advocacy work within a national or international NGO or think tank focused on climate issues.
3. Holding a leadership position within a youth or student-led organization advocating for progressive climate policies and enhanced democratic engagement.
4. Holding a leadership position within a community-led organization advocating for progressive climate policies and increased democratic engagement.
Furthermore, applicants must:
1. Be between the ages of 18 and 30 by May 2024.
2. Be available to attend the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montreal from September 17th to 21st.
3. Be available to participate in the Welcome! New Parliament Youth Summit in Brussels in June or July 2024.
