Program Benefits
This fellowship is fully funded, covering all major expenses for the three-year period. Fellows will receive full tuition for the AATH Humor Academy program, registration for the AATH Annual Conference each year, and a travel stipend for conference attendance. Fellows also receive AATH membership and mentorship from experienced humor and peace practitioners.
Participants will engage in a blend of academic learning, practical exercises, and community engagement, gaining the tools to use humor to promote empathy, understanding, and nonviolent communication. By the end of the program, fellows will have developed a professional project demonstrating how humor can drive peace and positive social change.

Eligibility Criteria
This fellowship is open to individuals who are students, faculty, or professionals engaged in peace and conflict-related work.
Students must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in peace studies, conflict resolution, peace education, or related disciplines. Faculty members should be teaching or conducting research in peacebuilding or social harmony, while professionals should be actively working in mediation, community development, or conflict transformation and wish to integrate humor into their practice.
Applicants must either already possess a valid U.S. visa or be citizens of countries that do not require a visa to enter the United States, such as U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or citizens from countries under the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. This condition is temporary, with the organization intending to expand eligibility globally in the future.
Selected fellows must commit to completing the three-year AATH Humor Academy program, which involves annual in-person participation at the AATH Conference and ongoing monthly virtual learning sessions. Each fellow must also complete a written or applied project in their second year, focusing on how humor can strengthen peacebuilding and conflict resolution efforts.
