FULLY FUNDED: Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarship Programme 2027/2028 at the University of Oxford

Applications are now open for the 2027/2028 Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarship Programme at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The programme offers an opportunity for talented young Africans who have overcome significant challenges and are committed to contributing to Africa’s development to pursue a fully funded Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

The scholarship is offered through a partnership between the University of Oxford, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme and the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx). For the 2027–28 MBA intake, up to three AfOx Graduate Scholarships are available to eligible African applicants.

The scholarship is designed to provide more than financial assistance. Selected scholars will receive academic and professional support throughout their time at Oxford, including tailored training, networking opportunities and continued support before, during and after their studies. The programme seeks candidates who have demonstrated resilience and a strong commitment to making a positive contribution to the development of Africa.

Applicants must be citizens of an African country and ordinarily resident in Africa at the time of application. They must not have previously completed a Master’s degree and must be able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to Africa’s development. Applicants will also need to meet the admission requirements for the Oxford MBA programme.

Successful scholars will receive full coverage of their MBA course fees as well as a living-cost grant of at least £21,805. They will also benefit from additional training, networking and support opportunities provided through the AfOx and Mastercard Foundation partnership.

There is no separate scholarship application. Applicants must submit a complete application for the Oxford MBA programme by the relevant deadline to be considered for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship. Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview will be contacted directly by the University of Oxford.

This scholarship provides an opportunity for emerging African leaders to gain a world-class MBA education at one of the world’s leading universities while building the knowledge, networks and skills needed to contribute to Africa’s development.
