FULLY FUNDED TO ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA: Apply for SHAPE Africa Summit 2024 for young African changemakers

The Office of the African Union (AU) Chairperson's Youth Envoy, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community, has launched a unique opportunity for young mental health advocates across Africa and the diaspora.

This initiative is tied to the upcoming SHAPE Africa Youth Summit, scheduled to take place from November 14-16, 2024, at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A key feature of the event will be the promotion of the #ICanSurvive campaign, a mental health toolkit led by AU Youth Envoy, Ms. Chido Mpemba, with the backing of partners such as the IFRC and Africa CDC.

Young African leaders passionate about mental health advocacy are invited to apply for this exciting chance. The selected individuals will be offered full sponsorship to attend the summit and take part in a dedicated Mental Health Baraza workshop, aimed at sparking meaningful dialogue on mental well-being.

If you're a youth leader with a powerful message about mental health, this is your opportunity to make a difference. Whether you have tips on coping with stress, anxiety, or any other mental health challenges, your insights could inspire others to prioritize their mental health. In recognition of Mental Health Month, the Office of the AU Youth Envoy is seeking dedicated individuals to join the team of #ICanSurvive Youth Champions.

Those chosen will not only attend the SHAPE Africa Youth Summit with full sponsorship but will also have the chance to be featured on the AU Youth Envoy's social media platforms, expanding the reach of their advocacy. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to connect with other young leaders and policymakers and contribute to vital conversations on mental health policies within the African context.

This opportunity is open to young Africans aged 18 to 35, whether they reside on the continent or in the diaspora. The application deadline is October 19, 2024. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this movement advocating for mental health and well-being across Africa!
