Applications are open for the AU-EU 25th Anniversary Photography Contest!

Young photographers across Africa and Europe are invited to showcase their creativity and storytelling skills by capturing the essence of 25 years of partnership between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU). This initiative seeks visual stories that reflect the achievements, impact, and spirit of collaboration between the two continents over the past quarter-century.

The contest is open to emerging photographers who wish to use their art to highlight how the AU-EU partnership has influenced lives, fostered innovation, promoted peace, and strengthened cultural connections. Participants are encouraged to submit powerful images that narrate real experiences and demonstrate the shared vision for a better future.

Participation is completely free, and the opportunity comes with exceptional rewards. Twenty-five finalists will have their work displayed in a special exhibition in Addis Ababa, with the possibility of an additional showcase in Brussels. Selected photographs will also be featured in a digital publication celebrating the 25-year journey of AU-EU cooperation.

In addition, two outstanding winners will receive a prize of €500 each and an all-expenses-paid trip to Addis Ababa to attend the exhibition and celebration events.

The deadline for submissions is 7 November 2025, and early applications are encouraged. This is a chance for young creatives to have their vision recognized on an international stage while contributing to a milestone moment in African-European relations.
