FULLY FUNDED TO BRUSSELS: Apply for the Oxfam Spark EU Climate Action Programme 2025 for young climate activists and change-makers

Are you passionate about addressing the climate crisis and eager to join other activists in holding Europe accountable for its climate policies? If so, this program offers an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and take action.

The SPARK EU Climate Action workshop is a dynamic training initiative designed for young climate advocates who want to deepen their understanding of European and global climate policies. It combines a six-week virtual training series with an intensive, in-person event in Brussels, where participants gain hands-on experience in climate activism.

The online portion of the program runs from February 18 to March 25, 2025, featuring weekly two-hour sessions every Tuesday evening. These interactive workshops cover crucial topics, including the relationship between climate justice, gender, and development. Participants also explore how the European Union operates, how its policies are created, and effective strategies for influencing legislation. Additionally, they learn how to design impactful campaigns and leverage media to increase pressure on EU institutions regarding climate issues.

In May 2025, the program culminates in a three-day, in-person event in Brussels, where selected participants engage in advanced training sessions. This event brings together activists from across Europe to meet decision-makers, journalists, and other change-makers in the climate space. The intensive sessions focus on building skills in mobilizing communities, influencing policy, and overcoming challenges in climate advocacy.

Oxfam will cover all costs for the program, making it accessible to those selected. However, participants must be between 18 and 30 years old, deeply committed to combating the climate crisis, and curious about EU operations (prior knowledge is not required). Fluency in English is essential, and applicants must reside in a European country eligible for visa-free travel to Belgium.

Each year, the program evolves to reflect emerging climate issues. Previous editions included topics such as understanding the EU’s legislative processes, launching effective campaigns, and navigating the intersection of climate justice, gender, and development. The Brussels portion has also featured engaging activities like meeting European Parliament members, connecting with policy advisors, learning about lobbying practices, and exchanging insights with fellow climate activists on staying resilient in the fight against climate change.

This program is an excellent chance for young activists to enhance their skills, network with like-minded individuals, and play a key role in driving change at the European level.
