FULLY FUNDED TO CANADA : Apply for the Youth Energy Efficiency Leadership Award 2026 

Applications are now open for the Youth Energy Efficiency Leadership Award 2026, a global initiative designed to recognise and elevate young innovators advancing energy efficiency through practical, community-based action.

The award highlights youth leadership in transforming energy systems by supporting projects that promote efficient energy use, awareness, innovation, and local solutions. Selected participants will receive full logistical sponsorship to attend a major international energy conference in Canada, offering a platform to showcase their work and engage with global decision-makers.

About the Award

The initiative is organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada.

It seeks youth-led initiatives demonstrating real-world contributions toward improving energy efficiency across communities, institutions, or emerging innovation spaces.

Successful applicants will participate in the IEA Global Conference on Energy Efficiency, a flagship international gathering bringing together ministers, business leaders, financial institutions, and energy experts.

Eligible Projects

Projects may include:

  • Early-stage or pilot energy efficiency ideas

Both established initiatives and testing-phase concepts are welcomed.

Selection Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Problem relevance: Clear identification of an energy efficiency challenge
  • Methodology: Practical and realistic implementation strategy
  • Impact: Demonstrated or potential social, economic, or environmental benefits
  • Local representation: Responsiveness to community needs and realities

Learning & Networking Opportunities

Participants will:

  • Share practical solutions advancing energy efficiency worldwide
  • Engage directly with senior government and industry leaders
  • Build international partnerships and collaboration networks
  • Gain recognition as emerging leaders in sustainable energy transition
