FULLY FUNDED TO FRANCE: Apply for the Institut Francais Residency Programme 2026 for artists
Applications are officially open for the 2026 edition of the Institut Français Residency Program in partnership with the Cité Internationale des Arts. This initiative offers artists and cultural practitioners who have been living outside of France for at least five years an opportunity to spend an extended period in Paris to pursue research and creative projects. Depending on their needs and proposals, selected residents may stay for a period of three, six, or nine months.
The program welcomes candidates from all parts of the world, with no restrictions on age, and embraces a wide spectrum of artistic and cultural disciplines. These range from architecture, urbanism, landscape design, and the visual arts to theater, music, dance, and literature. It also includes contemporary creative practices such as digital art, gaming, and virtual reality, alongside cinema, comics, fashion, design, photography, gastronomy, street art, circus arts, puppetry, performance, curation, and art criticism. The aim is to provide a space for exploration and exchange across both traditional and emerging fields of artistic expression.
Residents are hosted in fully equipped studio apartments provided by the Institut Français at the Cité Internationale des Arts, located in the heart of Paris at 18 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville in the Marais district. Each studio includes essential amenities such as a workspace combined with a sleeping area, a private bathroom, a kitchenette, and internet access, ensuring both comfort and functionality for creative work.
Financial and logistical support is made possible through associated partners, who take on the responsibility of covering international travel expenses, securing comprehensive health and liability insurance, and assisting with the necessary visa arrangements for the entire duration of the residency. In addition, residents receive a minimum monthly living allowance of €1,000 to support their stay and artistic pursuits.
