FULLY FUNDED TO GERMANY :Apply for the International Climate Protection Fellowship Program

If you are involved in academic or practical work related to climate protection or the conservation of climate-relevant resources in your home country – a non-European developing or transitioning nation – the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation invites you to apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship.

In every aspect, the Humboldt Foundation seeks to attain a high degree of diversity among its fellows and a strong gender balance. As a result, they specifically encourage members of under-represented groups and women who aspire to be leaders to apply.

Each year, they give up to five International Climate Protection Fellowships to postdocs and up to 15 to aspiring leaders engaged in practical activity. The International Climate Initiative provides the funding for the fellowships.

Tackling the global challenge of climate change requires international collaboration across borders. This program supports this goal by allowing future leaders and key influencers to exchange knowledge, methods, and strategies with experts in Germany. It also considers the practical relevance of these solutions in the fellows' home countries. Aligned with the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, the program aims to contribute to these objectives by empowering emerging leaders working on projects to combat climate change, develop and implement adaptation strategies, preserve ecosystems and biodiversity, and promote the sustainable use of oceans and seas. Additionally, it covers sustainability issues related to natural resources, resource-efficient consumption, and urban development. The program further encourages the creation of lasting relationships and collaborations with peers in Germany.

The intended audience

Those who work in the field of climate protection or climate-related resource conservation in their own country are the target audience for the program; they must possess leadership abilities, which must be substantiated by references and persuasively illustrated in the application. Potential leaders may apply from any discipline who have worked on climate change-related topics.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is  1 February 2025.
