The Policy Leader Fellowship (PLF) is a residential program at the Florence School of Transnational Governance (STG) designed for mid-career policy professionals from various fields, including politics, civil service, media, and non-governmental organizations.

Set within one of Europe's leading academic institutions, this program offers fellows an insider’s perspective on EU policy-making processes. The program specifically seeks individuals with diverse, practical experience in policy-making globally and does not require an academic background. Fellows benefit from direct access to the STG, the European University Institute (EUI) faculty, and the researcher community, while also learning from one another and building lasting professional and personal connections.

Fellows spend five or ten months at the STG, developing policy recommendations and practical solutions for critical transnational issues, drawing on their professional experiences. They also attend professional development training and can engage in EUI's academic activities to enrich their fellowship projects. At the same time, fellows contribute to the STG community by sharing their real-world experiences in teaching, training, and networking.

Upon completing the program, fellows become part of a global alumni network of policy professionals and gain access to lifelong training opportunities at the EUI.
