FULLY FUNDED TO LISBON, PORTUGAL : Apply for the ICANN88 Fellowship Program 2027 

Applications are now open for the ICANN88 Fellowship Program, offering individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities the opportunity to participate in the ICANN Community Forum scheduled to take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 13–18 March 2027.

The fellowship is designed to strengthen participation in the global multistakeholder Internet governance ecosystem by equipping emerging leaders with the knowledge, mentorship, and practical experience needed to contribute to Internet policy development and the security and stability of the Domain Name System (DNS).

About the Fellowship

The ICANN Fellowship Program supports participants from diverse regions and professional backgrounds who are interested in Internet governance, digital policy, and technical coordination. Fellows receive structured learning opportunities before, during, and after the ICANN Public Meeting while engaging directly with the global ICANN community.

The programme also provides mentorship and networking opportunities to help participants become active contributors to ICANN's policy development processes.

Fellowship Requirements

  • Complete programme evaluations after the meeting.
  • Continue contributing to ICANN initiatives following the fellowship.

Special Recognition Awards

Returning fellows may also be considered for additional recognition, including:

  • Tarek Kamel Fellowship Recognition, which honors exceptional contributions to ICANN's capacity-building efforts.
  • Paul Muchene Fellow Award, presented to a technically qualified fellow based in the African region in recognition of outstanding engagement and leadership.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Interest in Internet governance and ICANN's mission
  • Leadership potential
  • Commitment to community engagement
  • Diversity and regional representation
  • Ability to contribute to the multistakeholder model

Eligibility Criteria
Applications are welcome from candidates across all regions and sectors who have an interest in Internet governance and digital policy.

- Be at least 21 years old.

- Demonstrate an interest in Internet governance, domain name systems, cybersecurity, or ICANN policy development.

- Complete the required ICANN Learn training courses.

- Not be participating in another ICANN-supported travel programme at the time of selection.

- Have received no more than two previous ICANN Fellowships.

- Returning applicants must demonstrate continued engagement with the ICANN community.
