FULLY FUNDED TO MADRID, SPAIN: Submit your abstracts, scientific symposia and workshop proposals for the EDCTP Forum 2027

Applications are open for Researchers, policymakers, funders, and global health professionals to contribute to the EDCTP Forum 2027, one of the leading international events dedicated to infectious diseases research in sub-Saharan Africa.

Scheduled to take place from 5–9 April 2027 in Madrid, Spain, the forum will convene experts from Africa, Europe, and other regions under the theme "Innovating Together for Resilient Global Health." The event will provide a platform for presenting research findings, exchanging ideas, strengthening partnerships, and shaping future discussions on global health priorities.

Applications are currently being accepted in three categories: abstract submissions, scientific symposia, and workshop proposals.

Submission Categories

Abstracts

Researchers are invited to submit summaries of original research that align with the priorities outlined in the Global Health EDCTP3 Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. Selected abstracts may be featured as oral presentations during parallel sessions or as poster presentations during the forum.

Researchers involved in health-related projects across Africa and other regions are encouraged to apply. Individuals working on projects supported by Global Health EDCTP3 and Horizon Europe programs are particularly encouraged to participate.

Scientific Symposia

Scientific symposia will provide an opportunity for experts to organize structured discussions on topics influencing global health research, policy, and implementation.

These sessions are expected to promote dialogue among researchers, policymakers, funders, and practitioners while addressing emerging scientific and policy challenges.

Organizers, speakers, and session chairs will be responsible for covering their own participation costs.

Workshops

Workshop proposals are also being accepted for interactive sessions focusing on professional development, technical skills, and career advancement.

These sessions are designed to create practical learning experiences, particularly for early and mid-career researchers seeking to strengthen transferable skills and engage directly with experts.

Priority Research Areas

Submissions should address one or more of the following themes:

  • Biomedical innovation
  • Implementation science and public health impact
  • Research capacity strengthening, equity, and ethics

Travel Support for Researchers

A limited number of travel and accommodation scholarships will be available for early and mid-career investigators whose abstracts receive high evaluation scores.

The financial support is intended for researchers with limited access to research funding, helping to increase participation from underrepresented communities and institutions.
