Applications are now open for the NextGen@ICANN87 Programme 2026, an international opportunity designed for university students interested in the future of the internet and global digital governance.
Organized by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the programme will take place alongside the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting in Muscat from 17–22 October 2026.
About the Programme
The NextGen@ICANN initiative introduces young people to how the global internet is managed and governed. Through a structured and immersive experience, participants gain insight into how policies are developed and how different stakeholders collaborate to ensure a secure and stable internet.
Selected students will explore key areas such as:

Internet governance and policy development

The global internet ecosystem

The multistakeholder model used by ICANN

Digital infrastructure and online coordination systems
What Participants Will Experience
Participants in the programme will:

Take part in preparatory sessions and learning activities before the main event

Attend the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting (in-person or virtual)

Deliver a short presentation during the meeting

Receive mentorship from experienced professionals in internet governance

Engage with global experts, policymakers, and digital leaders
