FULLY FUNDED TO OXFORD, U.K: Apply for the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme
Applications are now open for the 2026 Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme, a prestigious initiative that empowers exceptional graduates and professionals from developing and emerging countries, as well as those without the financial means to study abroad, to pursue fully funded postgraduate degrees at the University of Oxford. Alongside academic study, selected participants engage in an intensive year-long leadership programme designed to build character, strengthen professional skills, and foster a lifelong network of global changemakers.
Established in 2015 to honour Lord Weidenfeld’s 95th birthday, the programme has grown significantly thanks to generous contributions from supporters and a matched funding partnership with the University of Oxford. In 2017, an additional endowment from André Hoffmann expanded the programme’s reach, allowing more scholars from around the world to benefit. It forms part of the Oxford Graduate Scholarships scheme, which provides comprehensive financial support for outstanding international students through shared funding between the University and the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust, including Fondation Hoffmann.
The scholarship covers all academic expenses, including full tuition and college fees, as well as a living allowance of no less than £20,780 per year for the entire duration of the recipient’s course. Beyond financial assistance, scholars participate in a leadership training series that combines philosophical dialogue, personal development, and professional workshops. These experiences are designed to equip participants with the skills to drive positive change in their home countries and globally.
The programme also operates through several partnerships, such as with the Hualan Education Group and Chevening, and contributes to initiatives like the Hope Scholarships under Oxford’s Sanctuary Community, supporting those with displacement backgrounds. Successful candidates may also be affiliated with one of the programme’s partner colleges, which provide additional support and resources during their studies.
To qualify, applicants must be starting a new full-time graduate course at Oxford and demonstrate a clear link between their chosen field and their long-term professional ambitions. They should also intend to return to their home country after completing their studies, contributing their skills and knowledge to public development at national, regional, or international levels. Individuals with deferred offers or those already enrolled at Oxford are not eligible unless they are current Weidenfeld-Hoffmann scholars.
Final selections will be announced by the end of May 2026. Due to the large number of applications received each year, only successful applicants will be contacted. The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme remains one of Oxford’s most competitive and transformative opportunities, offering not just financial assistance, but a pathway to becoming a leader equipped to make a meaningful global impact.
