The sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 2 to 13, 2024, with the theme "Our Land. Our Future." Marking the 30th anniversary of the UNCCD, COP16 will be the largest UN land conference ever held and the first hosted in the Middle East and North Africa—an area deeply affected by desertification, land degradation, and drought. This landmark event aims to reaffirm global efforts toward accelerating investment and action in land restoration and drought resilience, benefiting both people and the planet.

Following the success of previous Youth Forums at COP13, COP14, and COP15, the fourth UNCCD Youth Forum will be held from December 5 to 7, 2024. The forum will focus on the challenges young people face in securing land-based jobs, encourage their active involvement in implementing the UNCCD, and advocate for policies that foster opportunities for young eco- and agripreneurs. It will also ensure that youth have a voice in decision-making processes.

This open call is limited to organizations accredited by the UNCCD Youth Network.
