Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 SDG Lab/Rethinking Economics Beyond GDP Essay Competition, organized ahead of the April 17 meeting.

The competition invites young individuals to offer their insights on transcending GDP. Ten winning essays will be chosen for inclusion in a publication by SDG Lab and Rethinking Economics, with the top five authors receiving financial support of up to €1,300 for travel and accommodation expenses to attend the April 17 meeting in person.

Essay submissions, ranging from 700 to 1000 words, should present a clear argument in the author's own voice and may include cited experts or texts with hyperlinked references. Participants under the age of 30, regardless of affiliation with the Rethinking Economics network, are eligible to submit essays.

Evaluation will be conducted by a panel comprising members from both SDG Lab and Rethinking Economics. Additionally, winners will be provided with invitation letters for the meeting, though they will be responsible for their own visa applications.
