Selected fellows receive a monthly stipend of CHF 5,000 (taxable) and are provided with medical coverage for the duration of their fellowship. WIPO also offers assistance with travel and visa arrangements. Fellows work on-site in Geneva, Switzerland, and benefit from professional guidance and mentoring by WIPO’s PCT Translation Division. The experience strengthens careers in translation, technical communication, linguistics, computational language services, and intellectual property administration.
In addition to financial support, fellows gain valuable international work experience, professional mentorship, and exposure to global intellectual property systems. The fellowship significantly strengthens career prospects in translation, language technology, intellectual property administration, and international public service.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be graduate students or recent graduates at Master’s or Doctoral level, or hold equivalent advanced qualifications, depending on the fellowship category. Candidates must have an academic background relevant to the fellowship track they are applying for, such as translation, linguistics, terminology, computational linguistics, information technology, or technical and scientific disciplines.

Applicants must meet the specific language requirements of their chosen fellowship category. These include combinations such as Japanese-to-English, Korean-to-English, Chinese-to-English, English-to-French, or native-level proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish, alongside strong command of English. All fellowships are in-person only and cannot be undertaken remotely. Candidates may apply for more than one category but must submit separate applications for each.
