Additionally, interns benefit from visa support where required, structured onboarding, mentorship, and exposure to real-world projects within the Bank. This experience helps build strong professional networks and equips participants with valuable skills for careers in finance, development, and international organizations.
In addition, applicants must be nationals of Afreximbank member countries, students of African descent living in the diaspora, or non-African students who have a strong commitment to Africa’s development and align with the Bank’s mission. Fluency in either English or French is required, with working knowledge of the other considered an advantage. Applicants must also fall within the age range of 20 to 32 years at the time of application. 
Applicants must be nationals of member states of African Export-Import Bank, which include most African countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, and many others across the continent.
In addition, the programme is also open to students of African descent living in the diaspora, regardless of their country of residence, as long as they demonstrate a strong connection to Africa.
Non-African students may also apply, provided they have a clear academic or professional interest in Africa’s trade, finance, and development, and align with the mission of Afreximbank.
Overall, this makes the programme globally open, with a strong preference for candidates connected to Africa through nationality, heritage, or academic focus.
