Applications are open for the Africa SDGs Mentorship Programme Cohort 2026, an initiative organized by AIIDEV Africa. This professional fellowship is designed to strengthen the leadership capacity of emerging African professionals working toward sustainable development.
The programme runs for nine months and aims to support individuals who are actively contributing to sustainable development efforts across Africa. Through structured mentorship, training sessions, and collaboration with experienced practitioners, participants gain practical skills and insights to help translate sustainability commitments into real-world impact.
The initiative focuses on supporting professionals who are passionate about advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By connecting fellows with experienced mentors and providing access to professional development resources, the programme seeks to build a strong network of sustainability leaders capable of addressing development challenges across the continent.
Participants will engage in virtual learning sessions, mentorship meetings, and collaborative activities designed to enhance leadership capacity, policy understanding, and project implementation skills related to the SDGs..
Required Commitment
Participants are expected to actively take part in all programme activities, including mentorship sessions, training workshops, and collaborative learning engagements. Fellows will also be expected to contribute to discussions and share insights from their professional or community work related to sustainability.

- Personalized Mentorship: Each participant will be paired with an experienced professional working in sustainable development.
- Specialized SDG Training: Fellows will participate in structured sessions covering SDG frameworks, sustainability strategies, and education for sustainable development.
- Professional Skills Development: Training will include areas such as project management, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Pan-African Networking: Participants will join a network of sustainability practitioners, mentors, and institutions working across Africa.
- Certificate of Completion: Fellows who successfully complete the programme will receive an official certificate. Outstanding participants may also receive special recognition.
- Career Growth Opportunities: The fellowship helps strengthen participants’ professional profiles and expand their opportunities within the sustainability sector
- Be between 25 and 40 years old at the time of application.
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
- Have a minimum of two years of professional experience related to sustainable development, or demonstrate active engagement through community initiatives or volunteer work aligned with the SDGs.
- Show a strong commitment to advancing sustainable development within Africa.
- Demonstrate leadership potential, initiative, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Be available to participate fully in programme activities throughout the fellowship period.
- Possess strong English language proficiency, as the programme is conducted in English.
- Have reliable internet access and a suitable device to participate in virtual sessions.
