Young feminists across Africa now have an opportunity to apply for the 2025 Claire Mathonsi Young Feminist Scholarship. This fully funded award, made possible through a partnership between the RHNK Pan-African Conference and Planned Parenthood Global, offers one remarkable young woman the chance to attend the 8th RHNK Pan African AYSRHR Scientific Conference, which will take place in Mombasa, Kenya.

The scholarship is a tribute to the enduring impact of Claire Mathonsi, a passionate defender of gender justice, reproductive rights, and women’s empowerment. Her work continues to inspire new generations of activists, and this initiative seeks to elevate the voice of a young African feminist who embodies Claire’s vision. The chosen participant will join a vibrant community of changemakers and advocates from across the continent, engaging in dynamic sessions, collaborations, and knowledge-sharing that aim to further the cause of equality and justice.

Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 and currently living on the African continent. They should be engaged in feminist efforts focused on advancing reproductive rights, gender parity, and the empowerment of marginalized women and girls. The ideal candidate will also exhibit leadership potential and a clear dedication to driving transformation at the local or national level through activism, advocacy, or community organizing.

The selected fellow will receive comprehensive sponsorship to attend the conference. This includes return airfare to Mombasa, accommodation throughout the event, coverage of registration and participation fees, as well as a daily stipend to support meals and essential expenses. Through this initiative, one young feminist will have the opportunity to connect, contribute, and carry forward Claire Mathonsi’s legacy of fearless leadership in the pursuit of justice and equality.
