FUNDED: Apply for the YouLead East African Community (EAC) Youth Fellowship 2025 for young East African changemakers and professionals

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 East African Community Youth Fellowship, a renowned program created to elevate the involvement of young individuals in the regional development and leadership processes of the East African Community (EAC). This initiative is tailored to tap into the creativity and energy of the youth while strengthening their role in shaping the region’s future. Through a combination of mentorship, skills enhancement activities, and meaningful networking opportunities, the fellowship aims to cultivate emerging leaders with a strong commitment to regional unity and sustainable development.

The 2025 edition of the fellowship will spotlight two critical areas of focus. One stream will explore the participation of young people in politics, particularly how to reshape and reinforce youth leadership in public governance. The other stream will center on entrepreneurship, aiming to improve the business landscape for young people by promoting policies that support youth-led enterprises and foster a business-friendly environment across the region.

Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and must hold citizenship in one of the EAC member countries, which include Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Additionally, candidates must currently reside in one of these partner states and possess at least a bachelor’s degree. A demonstrated interest or background in regional affairs, economic governance, leadership, or related disciplines is also expected.

Those selected for the fellowship will benefit from personalized mentorship from seasoned professionals, providing continuous support and learning throughout the program. Participants will also gain access to a vibrant regional network composed of fellow youth leaders, policy influencers, and subject matter experts. The fellowship includes hands-on training sessions, leadership development workshops, and educational seminars aimed at deepening participants’ knowledge of regional integration and policy processes. Financial assistance in the form of stipends or allowances may also be provided to support the fellows during their engagement, with further details to be shared with successful applicants.
