Applications are open for the third edition of the African Youth Summit on Biodiversity (AYSB2025).

The third edition of the African Youth Summit on Biodiversity (AYSB2025) is being hosted by the Global Youth Biodiversity Network – Africa (GYBN Africa), in collaboration with key partners including the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), GYBN Rwanda, GYBN Niger, and the IUCN Nature-based Solutions Hub. Additional support comes from the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA).

This summit is designed to strengthen youth involvement in executing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). Its goal is to empower young people across the continent with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to effectively contribute to their countries’ National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and play a more active role in biodiversity policy and advocacy.

AYSB2025 will gather more than 100 youth between the ages of 18 and 35 from across Africa. Participants will include emerging conservationists, students, biologists, researchers, youth leaders, activists, Indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs), persons with disabilities (PWDs), and representatives from government, non-profits, and private sector entities such as innovation and business hubs.
