FUNDING: Apply for the International Organization of La Francophonie Support Programme 2025 for young West African Innovators and Eco-Entrepreneurs

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 edition of the Support Program by the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). This initiative aims to identify and empower 50 environmentally conscious entrepreneurs and green innovation leaders based in West Africa. It falls under two of OIF’s strategic initiatives: one focused on promoting Francophone-led innovations and advocacy, and the other on supporting systemic shifts in environmental and climate policy. Selected participants will benefit from tailored technical assistance, financial backing, and strategic mentorship to help scale their projects. The program will culminate in a dedicated workshop session later this year in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The program is designed to accelerate the growth and impact of ecological ventures that address pressing environmental issues across West Africa while generating sustainable employment and income. Emphasis will be placed on ventures that tackle region-specific concerns such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy solutions, waste reduction, and circular economy practices. Participants will also receive support in unlocking green funding opportunities available within the region and in crafting context-sensitive strategies to attract financial resources. Additionally, the initiative seeks to strengthen regional ties among green entrepreneurs, encouraging knowledge-sharing, cross-border partnerships, and the expansion of business networks.

To be eligible, applicants must be aged between 21 and 35, currently living in a West African nation, and either run a green enterprise or be in the process of developing a viable eco-innovation. Their work must align with sustainable development goals and exhibit a clear grasp of the ecological challenges unique to the region. The selection process will evaluate how well the proposed solutions respond to local environmental needs, their potential social and economic benefits, feasibility within West African markets, and their ability to inspire innovation under existing constraints. Projects with potential to scale and be adapted in other countries across the region will receive special consideration.
