FUNDING : Apply for the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) 2026
Applications are open for the 2026 International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), a global funding programme launched by UNESCO to strengthen cultural and creative sectors across developing countries.
The fund supports initiatives that promote long-term transformation within cultural ecosystems by improving policies, empowering creative industries, and strengthening institutional capacities.
About the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD)
The International Fund for Cultural Diversity operates under the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which aims to protect and promote diverse cultural expressions worldwide.
Since its establishment in 2010, the fund has invested over US$13.6 million in more than 175 projects across 77 developing countries, helping to:
- Improve national and regional cultural policies
- Support sustainable creative industries
- Expand access to cultural goods and services
- Strengthen participation and inclusion in cultural life
- Promote innovation and cultural entrepreneurship
The 2026 call continues this mission by backing projects that generate structural change and lasting impact.
Funding Priorities
Eligible proposals should demonstrate clear contributions to at least one of the following areas:
1. Cultural Policy Development
Projects that support the creation, implementation, or reform of policies and measures influencing:
- Cultural creation and production
- Distribution of cultural content
- Access to diverse cultural expressions
2. Capacity Building for Cultural Ecosystems
Initiatives designed to strengthen:
- Public institutions working in culture
- Civil society organisations and NGOs
- Local and regional cultural markets
- Creative entrepreneurship and industry sustainability

Selected projects gain opportunities to:
