Funding : Apply for the Women and Climate Action Scheme

Researcher proposals on women and climate action from the UK, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and/or Least Developed Countries are being invited by the British Academy.The International Science Partnerships Fund of the United Kingdom, overseen by the Department of Science, Innovation & Technology, is providing assistance for this appeal. Applications for this financing must be qualified for Official Development Assistance (ODA) as the International Science Partnerships Fund is funded in this context through ODA.

With an emphasis on the humanities and social sciences, the request seeks to encourage international research collaborations on women and climate action between the UK and other nations. Research that is significant to policy, whether it is new or builds upon earlier or continuing studies, is supported by the Academy.

Through the project, academics will be able to present research that is important to policy, collaborate internationally, and work with local stakeholders to design and integrate research findings.

Time & Commencement of Award

Projects are planned to begin by the end of June 2024 and must last a minimum of eighteen months.
At least three to five prizes should be supported by the call.

Program Benefits
In this call, awards may receive up to £200,000 in total financing spread over 18 months. The award is given at 80% FEC up to a maximum of £200,000 over 18 months (that is, the total project value at 100% FEC cannot exceed £250,000, nor can the total contribution asked from the Academy exceed £200,000).
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are being accepted for a research grant from the British Academy. A Principal Investigator (PI) in the social sciences or humanities, who must be postdoctoral or have comparable experience, will oversee the study. A recognised position in a university or research centre in the United Kingdom, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and/or Least Developed Countries is required of the Principal Investigator.
The PI's employment must continue for the full term of the award. The UK, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and/or Least Developed Countries are the only countries where applicants may be located, regardless of their nationality. A minimum of one postdoctoral or comparable researcher from each of these nations must be a co-applicant. The ceremony for the award must take place.
