Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 intake of the African Leadership Academy (ALA), an institution dedicated to reshaping Africa’s future by cultivating a generation of young, visionary leaders prepared to drive transformative change across the continent.

The admissions process at ALA is intentionally comprehensive, evaluating each applicant’s capacity for leadership and how well they align with the school’s distinctive academic and leadership curriculum. Rather than focusing solely on academic achievement, ALA considers a broad range of qualities including mental preparedness, resilience, initiative, the ability to collaborate with others, and personal courage. Emphasizing the importance of diversity, ALA welcomes students from a wide spectrum of cultural, social, and geographic backgrounds to enrich the learning experience and foster a truly global community. To qualify for the 2026 class, applicants must have been born on or after September 1, 2006.

True to its mission of accessibility, ALA offers extensive financial support to those who are accepted. Since the beginning, the academy has ensured that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints. Approximately 97% of students benefit from scholarships, which help cover the comprehensive annual cost of $30,900. This fee encompasses all essential aspects of a student’s experience at ALA, including meals, accommodation, uniforms, and academic expenses. Financial aid is available to all admitted students regardless of nationality or income level, ensuring that everyone can benefit from both the world-class education and the lifelong network that comes with being part of ALA.

The application process opens on July 15, 2025. For those seeking an early response, applications submitted by October 15, 2025, will be considered under the Early Decision track, with decisions shared in January 2026. All remaining applications must be submitted by January 15, 2026, with final results communicated in April 2026. While applying early may provide a quicker decision, it does not influence the likelihood of acceptance.
