GLOBAL GRANT: Apply For The UNEP Young Champions of the Earth 2026 for Young Environmental Leaders
Applications are open for the Young Champions of the Earth 2026, a flagship initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) designed to support and celebrate outstanding young environmental leaders from around the world. This global programme identifies ambitious young innovators who are already implementing bold solutions to pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and waste. The initiative aims to empower young people with the financial support, mentorship, and global platform they need to scale their impact and drive meaningful environmental change within their communities and beyond.
Through this programme, selected Young Champions receive seed funding and tailored support to strengthen their projects, refine their business models, and expand their reach. The award not only recognizes innovative ideas but also supports practical, scalable solutions that contribute to environmental sustainability and align with global environmental priorities.

Additional Information
In addition to financial and technical support, awardees benefit from significant global visibility. They are featured across UNEP’s international platforms and communication channels, which helps increase credibility, attract partners, and unlock further funding opportunities. Winners also gain access to high-level networks, including participation in global events and potential pitch competitions where they may compete for additional grants and investment opportunities. This comprehensive support system is designed to accelerate the growth and long-term sustainability of each selected project.
Candidates must submit only one application per cycle and must ensure that the information provided reflects their own original work. Employees of UNEP, partner organizations, and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply. The competition is open to young people from all countries, provided they meet the age and project experience requirements. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, innovation, and a clear vision for how the support from the programme will help them scale their impact.
Applicants from all countries are eligible to apply, provided they meet the age requirement (18–30 years old) and have at least six months of experience working on an environmental project. There are no country restrictions, meaning young environmental innovators from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and the Middle East can all submit applications.
Selection is based on the strength, impact, and scalability of the environmental solution — not on nationality or region.
