Program Benefits

Selected organizations will receive grants of up to US$6,000 to cover salaries or teacher stipends, supplies or equipment, space rental, or the development of new literacy programs. Funding may also be used for general operating expenses. Award notifications are sent approximately eight weeks after each application deadline, allowing organizations to plan and implement their literacy initiatives effectively.

Eligibility Criteria

The grant is open to registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with an Employer Identification Number (EIN) that provide direct literacy services to adult learners in the United States. Organizations that have received a Literacy Opportunity Fund grant in the last 12 months are not eligible. Applications must be complete and submitted by the stated deadlines to be considered. Note that programs limited to book distributions or lending libraries do not qualify.
