Grant of 10,000 USD & a fully funded trip to China : Apply for the  Youth for Peace: UNESCO intercultural leadership programme

Applications are open for the Youth for Peace: UNESCO intercultural leadership programme.

UNESCO’s “Youth for Peace” intercultural leadership initiative aims to empower rising changemakers with the tools, insight, and guidance necessary to use intercultural dialogue as a response to today’s global challenges. In its debut year, the program will focus on the theme: "Collaborating for a Shared Tomorrow: Harnessing Dialogue to Build Social Unity in a Rapidly Changing World."

This initiative is part of UNESCO’s broader “Road to Peace” campaign, which prioritizes intercultural understanding and tolerance. The program seeks to cultivate a cohort of youth who can drive community transformation and policy advocacy locally and globally.

Key Dates

  • September 2025: Online training begins
  • October 2025: Submit final project plans; grants issued
  • November 2025 – May 2026: Project rollout with mentorship
  • April 2026: Attend in-person Youth Leaders Dialogue in Guangzhou, China
  • May 2026: Submit final reports and join Alumni Network

Project Requirements

  • Must align with the 2025 theme
  • Be deliverable within six months
  • Have local or national reach

Application Process:

  1. Apply Online: Complete the form and attach your CV by June 22, 2025. Be sure your email and contact details are accurate.
  2. Initial Screening: Applications will be checked for eligibility.
  3. Expert Review: An international panel will assess submissions based on merit.
  4. Final Selection: Fifty participants will be selected and contacted by August 2025. Due to high demand, only selected applicants will be notified.

Participants will join a vibrant global network of young innovators working toward a more inclusive world. The program offers:

1. Capacity-Building Modules:

Online Learning Labs: A comprehensive virtual curriculum focused on leadership in diverse communities and practical project design.

Continued Learning & Exchange: Regular sessions to support project implementation and leadership development.

Coaching & Peer Support: One-on-one mentorship and group sessions for feedback and knowledge-sharing.

2. Project Grants:

Following initial training, participants will design a community initiative aligned with the year’s theme. Approved proposals will receive up to $10,000 USD in grant funding, along with tailored mentorship and peer feedback during the implementation period.

3. Global Visibility and Community:

Inclusion in UNESCO’s Global Alumni Network, enabling ongoing collaboration and knowledge exchange.

An invitation to the Global Youth Dialogue for Peace—a high-level platform for presenting projects and engaging with global policymakers.

Access to UNESCO’s resources, guides, and the Global Intercultural Action Observatory, where selected initiatives may be spotlighted.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates must:

Be between 25–45 years old as of September 1, 2025

Demonstrate experience in leadership and social impact

Show strong commitment to intercultural engagement

Be fluent in English (the official program language)

Be fully available for all phases of the initiative
