What Is the Micro-Grants Program?

This initiative provides financial support for grassroots youth-led projects, campaigns, or initiatives that tackle climate justice from an intersectional perspective. Beyond funding, selected groups will also receive mentorship and guidance to maximize their impact.

Each year, the program funds 10-15 youth-driven initiatives with a particular focus on the following regions:

•Middle East and North Africa

•Southeast Asia

•South Asia

•The Caribbean

•Latin America

•Sub-Saharan Africa

Who Is Behind This Initiative?

Roots is a movement built on the belief that solutions should be created, led, and owned by the community. Our mission is to empower young people in the Global South by providing the tools, resources, and networks they need to create meaningful political and social change. Through a dynamic and adaptable approach, we help youth-led movements grow and drive systemic transformation.

Who Can Apply?

We are looking for youth-led projects that align with our vision of climate justice and radical systemic change. Successful applicants will meet the following criteria:

•Community-Driven – The initiative must be led by young people at the grassroots level and centered around the needs of their community.

•Holistic Approach – We support projects that prioritize the well-being of their members and foster long-term resilience within their communities.

•Engagement & Impact – The initiative should focus on reaching new and persuadable audiences, inspiring action beyond existing climate networks.
