Grants of up to  ($100,000 maximum) : Apply for the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative Program

The innovative grantmaking programme known as the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative (FCI) was started by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation in partnership with RMI and Environment & Culture Partners.

The FCI was founded in 2021 and has since become one of the foremost private initiatives in the US devoted to tackling climate change in the visual arts sector.

In order to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency, the FCI provides financial support and guidance to visual arts institutions who wish to pursue ambitious sustainability and energy efficiency projects. It offers financial support for significant infrastructure renovations, strategic planning for new building projects and big initiatives, as well as small-scale, quick interventions, thorough efficiency audits, and feasibility studies.

The programme, which is based on the fundamental values of the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, blends an appreciation for the visual arts and arts education with a dedication to environmental conservation. The FCI aims to promote a broad shift in the visual arts industry towards carbon-neutral operations by means of targeted funding and partnerships centred on concrete infrastructure upgrades. This will help to ensure a future in which artistic endeavours coexist peacefully with efforts towards sustainability and ecological consciousness.

There are several funding categories offered by the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative: Scoping Grants (up to $25,000) for energy assessment initiatives; Catalyst Grants (up to $15,000) for small-scale, fast projects with coaching support; Technical Assistance Grants (up to $50,000) for procurement and financing support; and Implementation Grants (up to $100,000) for large-scale projects with an institutional climate impact.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 15-Mar-2024.
