HYBRID + STIPEND : Apply for the Aflatoun International MERL Internship 2026 

Applications are open for the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Internship 2026 offered by Aflatoun International. Aflatoun International is a global non-profit that promotes social and financial education for children and youth. The organisation collaborates with more than 300 partner organisations across over 100 countries, reaching more than 10 million young people through its programs.

Its Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) unit plays a central role in assessing the impact of these initiatives and strengthening partners’ capacity to evaluate social and financial education programmes worldwide.

Internship Details

  • Position: MERL Intern (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning)

  • Location: Remote or Amsterdam, Netherlands

  • Time Zone Requirement: Within ±3 hours of Central European Time (CET)

  • Internship Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Interns will support the MERL team in several research and monitoring tasks, including:

Annual Survey Support

  • Assist with cleaning and analysing survey datasets

  • Contribute to drafting the organisation’s annual survey report

General MERL Support

  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities for external projects

  • Help share research findings through webinars, blogs, journals, and other platforms

  • Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation tools

  • Organize and archive research outputs in the internal knowledge repository

  • Help maintain and verify MERL databases and project data

Interns may also have opportunities to collaborate with other departments, including the Education & Digital Team, Communications Team, and Programme Team, and participate in internal meetings.

Eligibility Criteria
- Be in the final stage of a master’s programme or have recently graduated

-Academic background in education, development studies, economics, psychology, public policy, or related fields

- Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

- Familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or similar tools is an advantage

- Demonstrated interest in social and financial education programmes

- Experience or interest in knowledge management and information organisation

- Strong English language proficiency

- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote and flexible environment
