INTERNSHIP: Apply for the InterGovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Internship Programme 2025 for young African graduates

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Internship Program offered by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). IGAD is a Regional Economic Community bringing together eight East African nations: Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda. Its mission is to promote regional unity through economic cooperation and shared efforts in fostering peace, security, and overall development.

This internship opportunity is designed to support young professionals from IGAD member countries who are passionate about advancing gender equality within their fields of expertise. IGAD aims to engage 14 interns—two from each member state—through a program that combines professional growth and hands-on experience in an encouraging and development-focused environment. Participants will be assigned to various IGAD departments depending on their academic background and will work from the IGAD offices located in their own countries. The program emphasizes learning through practice, enabling interns to build valuable workplace skills while contributing to gender-focused initiatives.

To qualify, applicants must either hold a bachelor’s degree or be currently pursuing a master’s degree with the intention to resume studies following the internship. This opportunity targets individuals who have not yet acquired formal work experience, particularly those within two years of completing a postgraduate degree. Candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 27 at the beginning of the internship period and should be citizens of one of the IGAD member states. Proficiency in English is essential, while knowledge of French would be a bonus. Successful applicants should be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings, possess strong communication abilities, and be familiar with standard computer applications.

Please note that this is an unpaid internship; interns will not receive financial compensation for their participation.
