INTERNSHIP : Apply for the UNEP International Conference Support & Resource Mobilization Internship 2026

United Nations Environment Programme is accepting applications for the International Conference Support and Resource Mobilization Internship based in Geneva, Switzerland.

This internship provides hands-on experience supporting global environmental diplomacy, stakeholder coordination, and resource mobilization efforts linked to an upcoming international conference under the Global Framework on Chemicals initiative.

Programme Overview

The internship is designed for students and recent graduates interested in environmental governance, international cooperation, and sustainable development processes within the United Nations system.

Interns will work closely with programme officers to help coordinate preparations for a major international conference addressing chemicals and waste management worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Selected interns will contribute to:

  • Assisting with conference planning, coordination timelines, and follow-up actions
  • Preparing briefing notes, background documents, presentations, and participant materials
  • Supporting communication with Member States, UN agencies, NGOs, and partners
  • Coordinating logistics for virtual and in-person meetings
  • Drafting newsletters, banners, and outreach materials
  • Supporting fundraising and donor engagement through resource mobilization tools
  • Assisting private-sector engagement activities
  • Providing administrative and research support to programme teams

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) is considered an asset

Internship Details

  • Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland (Office-based)
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Expected Start: 15 June 2026
  • Category: UN Internship (I-1 level)
  • Compensation: Unpaid internship
    • Interns are responsible for travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses

Eligibility Criteria
- Be enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s or PhD), or

- Be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or

- Have recently completed a university degree

Additional expectations:

- Academic background related to environmental affairs, international relations, development studies, or similar fields

- Strong research, organizational, and report-writing skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams

- Familiarity with UN processes or conference management is an advantage

- Interest in fundraising, partnerships, or resource mobilization work
