
Job Opportunity: African Futures Lab is looking for a Climate Justice Research and Policy Adviser
African Futures Lab is seeking a Climate Justice Research and Policy Adviser (CRPA) to lead the development and advancement of its climate justice and reparations agenda. This key position will involve crafting a strategic research agenda to guide advocacy initiatives both across Africa and globally. The CRPA will be responsible for identifying and building partnerships with essential stakeholders, such as civil society organizations and the media, and will focus on shaping strategic advocacy efforts in the areas of climate justice and reparations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development (Climate Justice and Reparations):
- Lead the formulation of a comprehensive climate reparations strategy for implementation in Africa and on the global stage.
- Develop work plans, recommend priority areas, and provide actionable recommendations for policy change.
- Write policy papers that build the case for targeted policy shifts in climate justice.
- Research and Analysis:
- Design and oversee research reports focusing on climate justice and reparations policy.
- Contribute to the publication process to ensure the quality and impact of research outputs.
- Monitor emerging trends in policies and research with potential implications for climate justice.
- Influencing Public Debates on Climate Justice and Reparations:
- Utilize media tools such as podcasts and videos to effectively communicate key findings and insights.
- Coordinate events and initiatives that advance the policy agenda.
- Represent African Futures Lab at academic, policy, and activist forums to build support and promote collaboration.
- Publish op-eds and thought leadership articles to engage a broader audience and influence public discussions.

Additional Information
Education: PhD or Master’s degree in Environmental Law or Environmental Studies.
Experience: At least 5 years in policy-oriented analysis and strategy development.
Knowledge: Expertise in the intersection of racial justice and climate/environmental inequality.
Languages: Fluency in English (spoken and written) and proficiency in French.
Skills: Strong project management, self-organization, and team collaboration capabilities.
