  1. The Receptionist role is part of the Human Resource and Administration Unit (HRAU), which is in charge of carrying out a variety of HR and administrative tasks in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Country Programme. This position's primary responsibility is to enable the nation program's front desk and administrative needs in an effective and efficient manner, guaranteeing smooth operations and professional behaviour. Six direct coworkers, one HR Business Partner, one HR Coordinator, one HR Officer, one Administration Officer, and two Office Assistants make up the HRAU.

Important duties
Receiving and speaking on the phone

  • Treats internal employees and guests with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency.
  •  Answers incoming calls politely and quickly, then connects them to the appropriate parties.
  • When staff members are not present, the system keeps track of all incoming communications and makes sure these are disseminated and handled properly within the office.
  • Makes sure the welcome area is always neat, orderly, and appealing.
  •  Every day, collect, record, sort, and distribute mail, deliveries, and papers.
  • Organises and posts pertinent information on the notice boards outside the office door and in the reception area so that both visitors and employees can see it on a regular basis.
  • Keeps in touch with all Oxfam employees working in the country programme, as well as pertinent employees at HQ, partners, stakeholders, and guests.

Eligibility 

The job requires at least two years of experience in an administrative role, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, strong organization and problem-solving skills, customer orientation, planning, computer literacy, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel packages, effective communication, and initiative, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

2.The Women's Rights Coordinator-Maternity Cover should strive for the coherence of organisational strategies, especially the Gender Justice and Women's Rights Operational Framework, the Country Strategic Framework, and the Global Strategic Framework, in order to improve the integration of these issues into Oxfam's work programme in Uganda and at the operational level. The group comprises a Women's Rights Advisor, a Women's Rights Coordinator, a Gender and Protection Coordinator, and a Graduate Trainee in Gender Justice and Women's Rights. To develop long-term solutions to severe inequality and injustice by collaborating with others to advance women's rights, which should be at the core of Oxfam's work in Uganda.

The key responsibilities include technical support for Gender Justice and Women's Rights projects, preparing proposal documents, collaborating with Oxfam teams, offering technical support in research, advocacy, campaigns, fund raising, and public engagement, coordinating partners to develop operational plans, budgets, indicators, and MEAL frameworks, and representing Oxfam in Gender Justice and Women's Rights forums.

The leadership role involves regular monitoring visits, stakeholder engagement, donor reporting, and project management. They support partners in various stages of the project cycle, conduct regular reviews, and lead project documentation. They also identify opportunities to foster strategic linkages and alliances in social justice and women's movements, enhancing shared learning and collaboration.

Eligibility

A post-graduate qualification in related subjects, a university degree, and five years of experience implementing gender justice and women's rights programmes are prerequisites for the position. It is necessary to have strong organisational, problem-solving, and prioritisation abilities. It's also crucial to understand donor finance, participatory appraisal methods, project management, and a rights-based perspective. It is necessary to have prior experience with advocacy, campaigning, and influencing work, especially with regards to women's rights and gender justice concerns. When necessary, the candidate should be open to learning new things and taking long trips.
