A campaigner for renewable energy is needed by Power Shift Africa to assist create a positive, solution-focused campaign that will open up developmental avenues for Africa.

About the Africa Power Shift:

Founded in 2018, Power Shift Africa (PSA) is a Pan-African think tank focused on energy and climate change that aims to support various actors from an African perspective on policy, advocacy, and communications. In order to strengthen the moral voice of Africa in the global climate arena, we inform, educate, and shape conversation.

By elevating the voices of African players in a cohesive, well-coordinated, and fact-based message to African institutions, governments, civil society, the media, and other stakeholders, PSA also strives to mobilise climate action in Africa. We want to assist a transition in climate and energy policies, practices and narratives towards low-carbon and resilient alternatives. To do this, we actively engage the media, set goals, and use public relations efforts to elevate the voices of our stakeholders across international borders.

In this role, you will organise advocacy campaigns for the transition to renewable energy on a regional and global scale, create public awareness campaigns, analyse data on adoption in Africa, create strategies to track the impact of campaigns, plan energy-related events, prepare policy briefs and technical reports, coordinate strategic partnerships with stakeholders, and represent PSA in coalition activities.

Experience

The perfect advocate for renewable energy ought to possess:

• The ability to reside and work anywhere in Africa, ideally in Kenya.

• Capacity to collaborate in small, dynamic groups. The applicant must to feel at ease working from a distance.

• Campaigning and mobilisation expertise and experience.

• The capacity to evaluate environmental challenges in light of potential campaigns and overarching strategic goals.

• Excellent analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to establish and preserve strong connections and bonds with partners and other stakeholders.

• The capacity to write and speak with a variety of people in a suitable and successful manner.

The role of the Renewable Energy Campaigner is full-time. In accordance with experience, connections, and qualifications, the candidate will be paid competitively. The pay scale is determined by the cost of living in the area.
Eligibility Criteria
A bachelor's degree in a related discipline, five or more years of experience in environmental advocacy, campaigning, or project management, and a thorough awareness of Africa's needs for renewable energy are requirements that must be met by the candidate. They should be skilled communicators, have a track record of success in lobbying for policy changes, and be able to create strategic plans. They should also know how to use digital tools for improved stakeholder involvement and campaign outreach, as well as how to collaborate well in a team.
