A specialised United Nations agency, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a global financial institution whose mission is to end hunger and poverty in rural areas. By investing in rural residents, it does this. In addition to providing funding for initiatives that boost rural incomes and agricultural output, IFAD promotes policies that support rural transformation on a local, national, and international scale.
The GTM In order to assist nations in implementing gender-transforming improvements in their agricultural and rural development plans, IFAD developed the Gender Transformative Mechanism (GTM) in the context of Climate Adaptation in 2022. Aiming to achieve systemic and lasting gender transformative change and climate resilience at scale, the GTM is a financial mechanism. The GTM aims to encourage government investment in and escalation of the activities and capacities required to attain gender-transformative outcomes in agricultural programs. Through the GTM, IFAD expands on its expertise with strategies that have produced gender-transforming developments in rural development and leverages the scope of its loans and grants.
In order to support the development of a set of theories of change and indicators to capture gender mainstreaming and gender transformative programming across various IFAD climate work areas, such as climate adaptation, climate-smart agriculture, and biodiversity support, IFAD is looking for an experienced consultant with experience in gender and climate issues.
Goals
Creating theory of change frameworks and gender mainstreaming/transformative indicators specifically for climate interventions in IFAD projects is the main goal of this consulting firm. The kind
Interventions supporting i) climate change adaptation and ii) climate-smart policies should be taken into consideration.

Additional Information
a. Advanced degree in environmental science, agricultural development, gender studies, or a similar discipline.
b. A minimum of ten years' experience doing research and creating frameworks on gender mainstreaming and climate change, ideally in the context of rural and agricultural development.
c. Proficient in monitoring and evaluation techniques and possessing strong analytical abilities.
d. Strong facilitation and communication abilities, together with background in stakeholder engagement and consultation procedures.
e. Exhibited comprehension of the project methodology, gender mainstreaming tenets, and IFAD's mandate.
